Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Review

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield

The M&P Shield was released onto the market very recently and has generated much interest in the gun market. It is without doubt that other manufacturers are likely to follow the example set by the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield development team.

However, there were a few regular complaints from users of the M&P Shield that concerned some users. The trigger resetting distance is rather long and there appears to be no reset point. This was only an issue on the full size MP Shield and it has a well defined and functional striker action trigger.

The gun comes with two outstanding top quality magazines and a well-fitted seven round magazine with an extended eight round to match. You can easily carry around the seven-round magazine and use the eight-round as a spare.

The MP Shield is mostly of a single stack design, although not entirely. The rounds stagger slightly, which gives it a kind of single-stack and double mix. But you’ll no doubt be pleased to learn that the pistol will fire without using the magazine.

The M&P Shield also has a loaded chamber indicator that some people might find is an extra feature that is unnecessary. However the MP Shield indicator has no unwanted levers and a small opening on the top of the slide allowing the user to see the case of a completed round.

The manual safety feature on the M&P Shield is something that some gun owners might think unnecessary, while others (mainly novice handgun owners) believe them to be an essential part of any handgun.

The way the M&P Shield handles is excellent and ergonomically is comfortable with a perfect grip.

It is the way the M&P Shield actually shoots that will impress the most. There are smaller and a lighter handgun in this class but the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is great for shooting. The recoil is comfortable and does not kick back like some others would. At times the M&P Shield feels as though you are shooting from a much bigger gun.

For those who want to carry around a gun that is concealed the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is perfect. The market for gun owners to carry concealed weapons is very large and the M&P Shield was obviously designed for this purpose.

The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is high in quality overall and from its manual safety function to the recessed slide top is the perfect handgun you could buy.
